BRIAN WOOD PARTS WAYS FROM SILVIO LIU

After two successful seasons, Brian Wood, parted ways with womenswear line Silvio Liu. While serving as creative director and design director, the label was selected a finalist for Fashion Group International's rising star award in womenswear. The collection garnered many positive reviews from top industry trade publications such as Women’s Wear Daily, as well as several websites and blogs.

Brian Wood is an American fashion designer. Wood’s talent was recognized while still a student at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY when he was awarded an honorable mention from the C.F.D.A.’s junior scholarship program. In his last year at Pratt he garnered the coveted Tommy Hilfiger’s Jury Critic Sportswear Award for his senior menswear collection. Following internships with the established fashion houses of Anna Sui and Sean John, a design assistant position with Andrew Marc and a design associate position with Vintage Red, Wood took the next step launching B WOOD a pop art inspired hand painted t-shirt line. B WOOD is now an internationally sold t-shirt brand that features thought provoking graphics constanetly reinventing iconic characters and images of pop culture. He later expanded and created his cut and sew men’s sportswear collection Brian Wood in 2005. Brian ultimately filled a gap and created a cult following in the menswear market with an aesthetic that fuses a high attention to details and tech fabrications with street fashion.

His collections are always conceptually driven and he has taken the approach of designing to inspire. Brian’s menswear collection was selected as a finalist for Gen Art Styles International design competition 2005-2007; he also was nominated as a finalist for the 2007 and 2008 Fashion Group International Rising Star Award in menswear.

Wood’s work has been featured in online media and print publications such as GQ.com, Hypebeast.com, Fashionisto.com, Vibe, Complex, Nylon Guys, Antenna, Warp and Flaunt. Brian’s t-shirt designs from his spring 2008 collection African Warlords has recently been featured in UK based publishing house Grafitto’s latest release Protest T-shirts: Designs from cult independents.

In 2010 Alpha Industries celebrated it’s 50th year anniversary and collaborated with Brian to creatively interpret six jackets that define and narrate each decade spanning from the 1950’s through the 2000’s which will be part of a traveling exhibit in New York, Russia, Japan, and China in late 2010. Brian Wood currently lives in New York City, continuing to find inspiration for his namesake collection, and secondary line B WOOD as well as collaborating with brands such as Crown Royal, and Alpha Industries.
