T-shirt Retrospective feature from Teen Vogue

Who says guys can't have fun with fashion? That's what we were reminded of after viewing NYC designer Brian Wood's t-shirt retrospective at downtown Envoy Gallery. The young Wood launched his first pop-art-inspired t-shirt collection in 2003, after graduating from Pratt and interning for labels like Anna Sui and Sean John. Such a resume resonates in his t-shirt designs, which strike a balance between tongue-in-cheek and urban chic. At last night's presentation, models cleverly posed behind hanging gallery frames wearing some of Wood's greatest hits. (We especially loved the screen-printed Mickey Mouse tee from his Fall 2008 "Save New York" collection.) In recent years, Wood has branched out into full menswear collections, bringing his out-there approach to design with him--look out for his Navy-versus-pirates spring line to debut later this year. If you've got a guy that could use a major style upgrade--or to snag one of Wood's tees for yourself--visit brianwoodonline.com for more info.
